TAIJI QUAN – martial arts course

Spittal, Primary school west - Thursday 8.00 - 9.30 p.m. (15 units) FREE taster sessions on 3 and 10 October at 8.00 p.m. in the VS-West

The tradition of Taiji Quan goes back thousands of years and is the most advanced of the ‘internal’ martial arts. Through consistent training, it is possible to develop an inner strength, which requires the structuring and fine coordination of the body in coordination with an optimal energy flow and a clear mind.

To approach these abilities, the BASICS of MOVEMENT will help us both anatomically and energetically. Furthermore, we will develop the sequences of the 24 movements step by step based on their application. The Peking form was derived from the traditional Yang style as a simplified discipline and introduced to the public in the People's Republic of China in 1956 to promote public health.

This can be considered a success, as around 150 million people in China still practice Taiji to this day. When performed well, this discipline has an excellent effect on:

  • coordination and posture
  • the ability to concentrate
  • body awareness
  • breathing
  • sense of balance
  • vitality
  • developing a ‘noble’ mind

Other (prerequisites, equipment): comfortable clothes, indoor shoes!
